“ The food is good and the owner is very friendly. The food is very different than I used to eat and the owner keep saying this is organic and healthy. I enjoyed the food. ”
“ Great authentic Russian food. Friendly owners. Rare find for Orange county! More of a take out type of place. If it fits your tastes, the herring shuba salad is delicious. Requires a 24 notice to prepare but it is well worth it. ”
“ Fantastic. The Borsh was delicious, it was packaged ready to take out, but I asked if I could have it hot to stay and they said yes! It came out topped with fresh dill and sour cream on the side. I also had a piroshki with potato and mushroom. They heated it for me too! Seems like most dishes are for takeout. Not much ready to dine in (on a Sunday afternoon, at least) but if you ask, you can get anything served at one of the little tables inside. Reminded so much of visiting relatives in Europe! All those homemade dishes served with care and always ready for guests. It's a real family business run by a husband and wife team--you can read their story on the website, it's a good one. They were friendly and we chatted about food and family. I'm excited to try the frozen dumplings and the other soups! Will return asap ”
“ I was so excited to see shuba on the menu after not having any for years because I no longer live near my Ukrainian friend in Michigan that used to make it for me. It was perfectly balanced, not too fishy, not too much mayonnaise, the layers stacked so colorfully and every bite was delicious. The pieroshki was flaky, stuffed with potato and mushrooms and seasoned just right. That brought me back to living in New York in a heartbeat. I washed it down with the suggested tarragon soda which is something I am going to have to track down as sadly, this deli is a 1 hour flight away. George the owner was such a charm to chat with as I had my late lunch before my flight home. If you live near this place, lucky you. You need to go there and enjoy the delicacies offered here. If you don't, be like me and make it a point to travel to it. You're probably much closer to it than I am! ”
“ My wife was reading about this deli and wanted to try out their Borsh, made of red beets. While I was there, I saw it was filled with art, which a clean appeal from the days when Russia was one country. After perusing the deli display, the wife decided to buy Palmeni, or Russian dumplings. The owners are so nice and have various sundries from the old country. My wife would have bought up the whole store if she had a chance... ”
“ There aren't many eastern european restaurants around, so Borsh was a welcome surprise. My wife's grandmother was from Poland, so this is comfort food for her. Everything we got was good, especially the beet salad in the vinaigrette dressing. ”
“ Feeling hoarse? Get yourself some borsh! https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=Ri0PlVE-dmCUfUY1KKa9vg&userid=xsT4KZTu_KnOVavtuXn4RA Seeing Borsh Deli opened up nearby, I was eagerly anticipating trying borsh for the first time, along with other Eastern European fare. I checked out their website ahead of time, to plan what to order. Naturally, I'd order the borsh. Their sandwich selection looked enticing, with my heart set on their "Baltic Sea", comprised of picked herring. Unfortunately, when I arrived, I was told Borsh Deli no longer has sandwiches on their menu. While waiting in line, customers were given samples of veal pelmeni. Pelmeni are meat dumplings, which are quite similar to wontons. Served in a tomato sauce, I quite enjoyed these. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=SXRZYb2jmi1_JuXFGba_jA&userid=xsT4KZTu_KnOVavtuXn4RA https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=STczveaMZ_HpU5vQ1DjG3A&userid=xsT4KZTu_KnOVavtuXn4RA Stuffed cabbage- https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=2_zc0f7OdB5se-jWq4blmA&userid=xsT4KZTu_KnOVavtuXn4RA Grass-fed, organic ground beef, rice, parsley, onions, olive oil & tomato puree. The stuffed cabbage was hearty & tummy stuffing. Beef cutlet- https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=UvLzqs-Yt1vsDqTDLwtJrA&userid=xsT4KZTu_KnOVavtuXn4RA Grass-fed, organic ground beef, Eastern European seasonings. Better than the stuffed cabbage, in my opinion, the beef cutlet was akin to a giant meatball. The spices popped, and eat bite had the right amount of fat to savor. Borsh- https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=Uxw-l1NQoKTxSYtLCSrDuw&userid=xsT4KZTu_KnOVavtuXn4RA Being a newbie, I asked if Borsh Deli's borsh is served hot or cold? "Hot" was the reply. I imagined borsh to be rather bright, but it surprisingly wasn't. I found Borsh Deli's borsh to be soothing & comforting, like a warm blanket. Especially with the addition of the accoutrement. Service was fine. Borsh Deli is a mom & pop operation (George & Karen). The person supposed to work the register was late, so George & Karen manned the register, with a bit of difficulty. To make amends for the wait, they offered customers complimentary fruit tarts, which were fantastic! Borsh Deli is located adjacent to Wahoo's Fish Taco. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=NnAwpIlSWaRvRSAAkRtnyw&userid=xsT4KZTu_KnOVavtuXn4RA I felt as healthy as a horse, after eating borsh & other delights at Borsh Deli. I enjoyed the stick to your bones stuffed cabbage & beef cutlet. The namesake borsh was quite nice, and a great option to eat on a cold day. I admire the couple putting their heart & soul toward their small operation, and I look forward to coming back and availing myself of their piroshki & blintzes. ”
“ Visited Borsch Deli for the first time today and oh oh I need this place to stay around forever.. They serve Eastern European food and oh man is it so insanely good. Borscht, Blintzes, Pirozhki, and lots more. Food is fresh and SO tasty. Perfect amount of spices and very comforting. Husband absolutely loved the tarragon soda. They also sell frozen dumplings, desserts, and some Eastern European pantry goods. They also have some vegan options such as their vegan borscht. I am also so incredible happy that they sell farmer cheese. One of my favorite cheeses of all time! I highly recommend visiting this Deli!!! ”
